Uses Tab
The Uses tab contains a table displaying the children of a part selected in the part structure. Use this table to:
View attribute information about child parts in an assembly.
Add existing or new parts as children of the parent part.
Remove child parts from the parent part.
Edit attributes on the usage relationship between a child part in the table and the parent part selected in the part structure.
The following table describes the part attributes shown in the default table view on the Uses tab. For a detailed description of all part attributes, see Part Attributes.
Attribute
Description
Number
The unique numeric identifier for the part. This attribute may be automatically supplied by a standard part number generator when parts are created in your system.
Name
The text identifier for the part. Does not have to be unique.
Version
The revision and iteration of the part.
End Item
Identifies the top assembly part in a product structure that is manufactured and delivered to customers.
Line Number
Identifies the position of this part within a manufacturing bill of materials (BOM) in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Quantity
Identifies the quantity of the part used within the assembly.
Unit
Identifies the unit of measurement applied to the quantity of a part used by an assembly.
Trace Code
Indicates whether manufactured copies of a part will be traceable by a serial or lot number.
Reference Designator
An aphanumeric code used to identify individual occurrences of a part used within a product structure.
Find Number
An attribute used to cross-reference a part in a product structure with the same part in an assembly drawing.
Quantity Option
(Available for advanced configurable parts.) If the quantity of the part is configurable, this attribute can be set to one of the following options: integer, float, long, double parameters. If the quantity is not configurable, enter the numeric value for the quantity. The default value is 1.
Inclusion Option
(Available for advanced configurable parts.) Indicates the inclusion status of the part being used. If the inclusion option is blank, the part is always used. If the inclusion option is set to a boolean parameter, the part is used only when the boolean parameter is set to the value "true" in a configuration session and is not used if the parameter is set to the value "false".
Reference Id
Indicates an alias given to a child, advanced configurable part that is needed if you want to refer to parameters in that child part or in any of its descendants. Reference Id is not necessary if the parameters of the used part's (or any of its descendants) are never referred to in the parent part.
