Customizing Information Page Tabs
By default each object information page displays, on one or more tabs, the commonly used information associated with the object type. You can customize how your information page tabs display in the following ways:
• Creating, reordering, and removing tabs
• Adding, removing, and reordering information tables on tabs
• Restoring default settings
|
Information pages can be customized differently for each object type.
|
Tabs: Creating, Reordering, and Removing
Each object has one or more tabs available by default. Use the following procedure to create additional tabs to meet your needs.
1. To create a new information page tab, click the new tab icon
located to the right of the existing tabs.
| By default, if you create a tab on an object that is a subtype, the tab does not appear on information pages for the parent type. |
3. By default, new tabs are available on the information pages for all subtypes of the object type where they are added. To make the tab available only on the current type, right-click the tab name and select Hide on Subtype. Select Show on Subtype to return to the default display. The Hide On Subtype and Show On Subtype right-click actions are available only on the type where the tab was originally created.
For example, if you have a part subtype called electrical part, and you create a new tab on part information pages, determine whether the new tab should also display on information pages for electrical parts.
◦ To make a tab available to all users in the site or organization, right-click the tab name and select Set Public. The tab can be seen but not modified by individual users.
◦ To make a tab visible to you only, select Set Private.
5. If you choose, you can then drag-and-drop your tabs to change their order.
6. To rename a tab, right-click the tab name and select Rename Tab.
7. To remove a tab, click the close icon to the right of the tab name or right-click the tab name and select Delete Tab.
| Modifying a tab in any way modifies that tab on information pages for all subtypes and all parent types which share the tab. This includes renaming the tab, deleting the tab, and adding, removing, or reordering information tables or other components on the tab. |
Information Tables and Other Components within Tabs: Adding, Reordering, and Removing
Depending on the settings your administrator has placed in Windchill, some tabs may be pre-populated with tables or other components that you cannot add or remove. The tab names for these administrator-defined tabs appear in italics. Tabs that you have created using the preceding procedure are customizable with regards to adding, removing, and reordering available components.
1. To add or remove an information table or other component, click the Customize menu in the upper right corner of a new tab pane. A list of available components appears, with any currently displayed components already selected.
| The list of available information tables and components varies depending on the object you are viewing and your Windchill capabilities. |
2. Select the checkbox for each table or component you want to display. Clear the checkbox for each table or component you want to remove.
3. To reorder components, drag-and-drop the component name at the top of the tab to the desired order (drag-and-drop component names to the right to move the component down, or drag-and-drop the component name to the left to move the component up).
4. Minimize the component by clicking the collapse icon
to the left of the component name. Click the expand icon
to expand the component again.
| Attributes that are grouped together on information page tabs can be ordered in the same way as other components. |
