SQL Server
Creating a Windchill database user account and database objects remotely is not supported for SQL Server using PSI. To accomplish this option for SQL server, PSI must be run on the SQL Server host and the SQL Server Configuration option must be selected to create a database and user. Then, PSI must be launched again from the Windchill Server host. Select Configure to an existing user on an existing database for SQL Server and fill in the fields with the SQL Server values used during the database creation step on the database host.
*
Some options do not appear when configuring to an existing user and database.
Option
Description
Installed SQL Server Installation Name (Named Installation only)
The default installation represents the machine on which the SQL server is installed.
Password for User sa
Enter the password for the database administrator user sa.
*
All special characters are supported in the password field except ` ! ; " \ ' & and space.

*
All special characters are supported in the password field except ` ! ; " \ ' & and space.
Confirm SQL Server User Password for Windchill
Enter the password again to verify the password.
*
The password used when creating a new SQL database must be at least 8 characters long and must contain characters from three of the four sets — uppercase letter, lowercase letter, any of the base 10 digits, and symbols. If the password does not meet the required criteria, the installation of the SQL server database fails.
Option

For a multi-tier installation, enter in the correct host name of the machine where the PSI was used to create a Windchill database and user in SQL Server.

Windchill requires that you use Mixed Authentication mode, since the SA account is utilized when installing Windchill. The installation cannot proceed if the “sa” user cannot connect to the database using the specified TCP port. If SQL Server is configured with Windows Authentication, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028697 and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188670.aspx.
