Sustainability
Windchill integrates features that help you plan and simulate strategies to reduce the environmental impacts of your products, generally correlated to growing profits. This includes sustainability requirements tracing, material selection, material reduction, supplier component selection, modular design for circularity, BOM roll up and analysis, manufacturing efficiency, and service/end-of-life planning.
Windchill supports the following sustainability features:
• Sustainability requirements tracing—Document sustainability requirements and link them to parts.
• Engineering materials—Materials specifications that satisfy physical and environmental requirements
• Library for engineering materials—Securely manage engineering materials to share with PLM and CAD users.
• Lifecycle management of engineering materials—Access to engineering materials in a PLM system enables guided decision making.
• Material assignment and update—Lifecycle assessment of engineering material to accurately determine environmental metrics.
• Material Reporting—Reporting on material usage, assignment and rollup of sustainability metrics.
• Design for Circularity—Modularity enables circularity and profitability with recycling, refurbishing, and remanufacturing.
• Windchill Classification—Promoting reuse to avoid wastage.
• Supplier Management—Managing and promoting the use of greener suppliers in mBOMs.
• Design for Service—Increasing product’s circularity by using Windchill tools.
