Modular Design for Circularity
With circularity, recycling can be profitable. However, refurbishment and remanufacturing can be more profitable and have greater footprint savings by avoiding reprocessing materials into components. Modularity creates both the supply and demand for refurbished and remanufactured parts. Following are the Windchill feature to manage design intent:
Organizing the module’s product structure into configurable modules. For more information, see Designing a Module Product Structure.
Enabling Product Family Management to build a family of products against a configurable product based on the Options and Variants capability. For more information, see Product Family Management.
Using variant specifications to fulfill different business process requirements and classifying a variant specification based on its usage. For more information, see Creating and Managing Variants.
Using Windchill’s MPMLink application to define configuration-specific work instructions for assembly and inspection operations. This can then be made available to front-line workers in a simplified form using Navigate. For more information refer the following topic:
Using Windchill Service Information Manager and Service Parts to simplify front-line service with configuration-specific parts list and service procedures. For more information see, Filtering Service Structure Using Variant Specification
