Defining Substitute Parts
A substitute part can replace a part only in a specific part structure.
To define a substitute part, perform the steps below.
1. Select the Structure tab on the part information page.
2. Select the part that can be substituted for in the part structure.
3. Select Manage Replacements from the right-click actions menu of the selected part.
The Manage Replacements window opens.
4. In the Substitutes table, click Add Substitute Part .
A search window appears so you can search for the desired part.
5. Enter the criteria for the part attributes, and click Search.
The search results are displayed.
6. Select one or more parts to be used as substitutes and click OK.
7. Click OK in the Manage Replacements window to complete the action. The selected substitutes are added under the selected part in the part structure. For more information, see Viewing Related Information in a Structure.
