Viewing Alternates and Substitutes
By default, tables for Alternates and Substitutes are displayed on the Related Objects tab available on the information page of a part.
You can customize a new tab on the information page to add any of the replacement tables such as Alternates, Alternate For, Substitutes, or Substitute For. For more information on customizing a new tab, see Customizing Information Page Tabs.
An alternate replaces a part in every product structure, while a substitute replaces a part in a specific assembly.

In the Alternates table, when the Two-Way column displays Yes, the part is an alternate for the part selected in the structure, and the part in the structure is also an alternate for the part in the Alternates table.

Substitute For are the parts for which the selected part is a substitute, while Alternate For are the parts for which the selected part is an alternate.
