Defining Alternate Parts
An alternate for a part can replace a part in every part structure.
To define an alternate part, perform the steps below.
1. Select the Structure tab on the part information page.
2. Select the part that can be replaced.
3. Select Manage Replacements from the right-click actions menu of the selected part.
The Manage Replacements window opens.
4. In the Alternates table, click Add Alternate Part .
A search window appears so you can search for the desired replacement part.
5. Enter the criteria for the part attributes, and click Search.
The search results are displayed.
6. Select one or more parts to be used as alternates and click OK.
7. Click OK in the Manage Replacements window to complete the action. The selected alternates are added under the selected part in the part structure. For more information, see Viewing Related Information in a Structure.
