Managing Creo View Web Settings for the Organization
Defining Creo View Web Settings
You can manage Creo View Web’s settings like you do in Creo View Desktop using the server_prefs.xml. These settings can be applied to the entire Windchill organization through Visualization Configuration Administration. You can change your default viewer platform from Creo View Desktop to Creo View Web and vice versa. You can also set whether you should be prompted to select the viewer every time.
To provide uniform experience to all users or a group of users working on a specific product, configure the Creo View Web settings for the site, organization or product contexts.
To define Creo View Web settings based on the business administration requirements:
1. Navigate to Utilities for the respective context section.
2. Click Visualization Configuration Administration and select the configuration to be used. If you do not have an existing configuration, create a new configuration using Add > Creo View Web Settings.
3. If server_pref.xml exists in the current configuration then the Visualization Configuration Administration opens the Import Settings dialog box prompting to import the Creo View Desktop settings.
4. Click Yes to open the Creo View Web Settings page which imports settings defined for server_pref.xml for the desktop platform and applies them to the Creo View Web settings that are supported by the current installed version . If no Creo View Desktop settings are stored in the current configuration, the Creo View Web Settings page opens so you can create new settings. Administrator can make any additional changes other than imported settings
5. Click Save to confirm. This uploads visviewer_settings.json to Visualization Configuration Administration. After successful upload you get a notification.
Editing Creo View Web Settings
To modify the existing Creo View Web settings:
1. Navigate to Utilities > Visualization Configuration Administration from the required context (Site/Organization/Product) and select the configuration to be modified.
2. To edit the existing Creo View Web Settings, locate visviewer_settings.json, and click Edit icon. This opens Creo View Settings dialog box, allowing you to edit your saved settings.
3. Click Save. This uploads the settings to Windchill Visualization Configuration Administration.
To delete Creo View Web settings, under Visualization Configuration Administration, locate visviewer_settings.json and click the delete action corresponding to the configuration file to be deleted.
*
To re-import Creo View Web settings, first delete existing Creo View Web Settings and then navigate to Add > Creo View Web settings which then triggers re-import of Creo View Web settings.
Best Practices for Organization or Context Managed Creo View Web Settings
Best practices for managing Creo View Web settings are outlined in the Creo View Web Help Center. Below are some recommendations to follow when administering these settings:
Manage Creo View Web settings as an administrator from the Visualization Configuration Administration. This process is supported by Business Administrator Change (BAC), allowing you to define settings in a development environment and deploy them to test and production environments.
Use the locking mechanism for administrator-managed settings in Creo View Web to enforce consistency across all users. Identify which settings require locks and configure them accordingly to prevent users from making unauthorized changes.
Enable usage of caching in Creo View Web to locally store geometry (OL) files to the browser cache. This reduces overall loading time for large structures.
*
Creo View Web’s caching is disabled by default and can be enabled only by administrator.
To optimize the user interface navigate to Appearance and Accessibility, turning off Show Button Labels and Show Panel Labels, and setting the table density to Compact Table mode.
Select navigation options based on your primary CAD system which enables the navigation with mouse and keyboard that matches the ones for the CAD system.
Enable the Show multibodies option under Loading settings if your organization uses multi-body design practices. If QuickView capability is enabled in Windchill, select Enable QuickView under Loading settings.
Click Reset All to Default, which restores all options to default. To reset only the active page, select Reset to Default.
Enable caching to achieve optimal performance benefits.
