Creating an Indexing User
The Windchill AI Assistant plugin leverages Windchill’s industry-proven and highly configurable Policy Administration and Participant Administration utilities.
To control data access, PTC recommends creating a dedicated machine user called the Indexing User. This user can be assigned to specific products, projects, or libraries. This approach ensures precise control over the data accessible to the plugin. The user is used internally by the plugin to perform indexing and similar operations.
This mechanism provides fine-grained control, allowing you to include or exclude specific parts of a context, for example, down to individual folders.
Follow these steps:

PTC recommends assigning a clear, descriptive username such as indexinguser or aiindexer for easy identification.

2. Grant the
Indexing User read-only access to the specific data you want indexed using the
Policy Administration utility. For detailed information, see
Policy Administration.
After creating the indexing user, complete the required configuration. For detailed instructions on configuring the indexing user, see
Configuring the Indexing User.

• The plugin will index all data accessible to the indexing user. Refer to the Known Issues for limitations related to the number of documents that can be indexed.
• Granting the indexing user access to one or multiple contexts and initiating indexing will incur costs in your Azure subscription.
