Usage
This characteristic is used by the KPI engine to calculate performance rates. Each equipment (inheritance can be used) that outputs production must have a characteristic with this type assigned to it that uses the same unit of measure than the production count to enable these performance calculations in the KPI engine. The unit of measure on an Ideal Production characteristic is implied to be an amount per hour. For example, if an Ideal Production characteristic is configured with unit of measure kilograms, the KPI engine will assume the limit value is in kilos/hour.
Out-of-the-Box
All ThingWorx Applications come with a system characteristic type called “Ideal Production”. It is not attached by default to any characteristic.
Configuration
A characteristic must be associated with the “Ideal Production” system characteristic type then its limits must be configured against that characteristic and associated to an equipment of any level. Product or product type is optional.
Retrieval Logic
This context uses both inheritance methods and will use the following sequence to find the appropriate limit to use:
1. Characteristic AND Equipment AND Product
2. Characteristic AND Equipment AND Product Type
3. Characteristic AND Product
4. Characteristic AND Product Type
5. Characteristic AND Equipment
