Dynamic Content
Usage
These characteristics are used to show dynamic content inside the text of work documents which allows for example to show product specific limits based on the running product. Characteristics used in the context of work documents are not allowed to be reused in other contexts as it may lead the application to be unable to surmise which limit to use. It is the only context that has such restrictions.
Limits are not associated to a specific version of a work document: changing a limit makes it immediately usable by work documents referencing it and new versions of work documents do not expire related limits.
In CWC Fabrication, for a document, the limits used will always be the limits that were effective when the operator opens the document.
Out-of-the-Box
The applications come with a system characteristic type called “Dynamic Content Placeholder”. It is not attached by default to any characteristic.
Configuration
Limits must be configured on a characteristic that uses the “Dynamic Content Placeholder” type and associated to an equipment of any level. Product or product type is optional.
Retrieval Logic
This context uses both inheritance methods and will use the following sequence to find the appropriate limit to use:
1. Characteristic AND Equipment AND Product
2. Characteristic AND Equipment AND Product Type
3. Characteristic AND Product
4. Characteristic AND Product Type
5. Characteristic AND Equipment
