An alarm is an event that is triggered when an equipment’s attribute reaches a certain condition. The alarm is then displayed in the equipment card on the Asset Monitoring Dashboard as part of the count, in the Alarm Events Display, and could result in one or more persons receiving a notification.

Characteristics are used to perform logical comparisons. These are very flexible and can be used for a variety of use cases. Characteristics can be grouped into characteristic types and can have limits associated with them.
