Create a Test Deployment
Complete the following steps to create a test package deployment:

You can create a test package deployment for both, file-based packages and instruction-based packages. The test deployment is only for unpublished packages. The Notifications field is not applicable during Test Deployment.
Under the Packages section, navigate to Test > Create test deployment.
1. Ensure that the package that you want to create deployment for is displayed in the Package Information field.
This field displays the last package that was created or the last package that was selected. If you want to deploy a different package, click , and select the correct package from the Find Packages page.
2. Navigate to Deployment Information and name the deployment using the Deployment Name field. Also add a brief description in the Deployment Description field.

The other fields can only be accessed during the actual deployment of the package. Click on Save before moving to the next field.
3. Navigate to Asset Information to carry out a detailed Asset search.
4. Click on the entity picker to search for Asset Type. A new window will pop up and showcase a list of Thing Template assets. By default, All Assets search is available.

The Keyword field that appears in the search window is used to search any Asset or Thing related properties. For example Asset name or ThingTemplate etc.
After entering the keyword, the user has to click once outside the keyword text box to view the result.
5. The Advance Search Criteria field that appears is a secondary filter which gives the option of filtering the Asset properties. For example Asset name or ThingTemplate etc.
After selecting the filter option, you can select a condition from those listed in the drop down.
You can set a value to the filter after selecting the condition.
6. Once you select the condition and set a value, click the Apply button.

If in case there is any change in the Asset properties, the user has to repeat all the steps of the Asset Information field.
7. You can add a query under the Query Namefield.
8. Under the Saved Asset Searches select a saved asset search available. By default, All My Assets search is available.
9. After selecting the assets, collapse the Asset Information field by clicking the downward arrow button. The selected assets are now available for test deployment.
10. Click on Start button to start the test deployment.

The user will not be able to click the Start button unless the Deployment Information is saved.
