In the transform template for Max-to-SFDC mappings, you can directly map the svmx_status field to SM_Life_Cycle_Status__c, and set the field value to the status name and the data type to String.

Currently, status transitions are not supported on SFDC. Direct sync to Max is supported for status transitions in the phone app.
