Profile Assignments
Consider the following scenarios while validating the migration of Salesforce profile assignments to the ServiceMax configuration profiles:
On Validate:
Associated Salesforce profiles for the selected group profile are listed, with the option to select all or specific Salesforce profiles for the association.
Salesforce profiles not found in the target org but associated with the source org are listed. You must create those Salesforce profiles manually and perform assignments in target org post-migration.
Additional Salesforce profiles associated with group profiles in the target org are listed. You must unassign them post-migration manually.
If Salesforce profiles selected for association are already assigned to another group profile in target org, those profiles and their group profile info are listed. The association is revoked from those profiles if selected for migration.
Scenario
Migration Behavior
New Group Profile migration, Source org's Salesforce profile is available in target org.
Group profile is migrated.
Salesforce profile association is migrated on user selection.

a. Source org's Salesforce profile is available in target org, target org group profile does not have any Salesforce profile associated.
b. Source org's Salesforce profile is available in target org, target org group profile has Salesforce profile associated (one of them or same as source org).

Overwrite Group Profile:
Source org's Salesforce profile is available in target org, target org group profile has an additional Salesforce profile associated.
Group profile is overwritten.
The following message is displayed during validation, listing the additional profiles:
This configuration profile has extra Salesforce profile(s) in the target org. Unassign them manually post-migration.
Association of these profiles if found in any other group profile is removed in target org. The details of unassignment are captured in the log.
The details of the Salesforce profile that gets associated with the group profile and details of additional profiles found in the target org's group profile that is retained are captured in the log.
Overwrite Group Profile:
Source org's Salesforce profiles are not available in target org, target org group profile has some Salesforce profile associated.
Cannot associate Salesforce profile to Group Profile.
The following message is displayed:
Below listed Salesforce Profiles are not available in target org to allow this action. Only Group profile will be migrated.
On Migration:
You must select Salesforce profile(s) under group profiles to consider profile association for migration. If no profiles are selected, then only the group profile is migrated.
Clicking Overwrite All does not enable SFDC profiles for migration.
For the selected configuration profile, migration logs capture the following information:
Additional Salesforce profiles found in the target group profile
List of Salesforce profiles that get assigned to the group
Details of group profile from which the selected Salesforce profile is unassigned
List of Salesforce profiles missing in the target org
*
Salesforce profile assignment is not done if the configuration profile is migrated as a dependent component of the Installed Base App setup, mobile configurations, SFM mobile permissions, and field inventory configurations.
The migration tool does not create a Salesforce profile in the target org. It only supports the association of the Salesforce profiles to the group profile if already available in the target org.
