Device Targeted Configuration
Users running ServiceMax Mobile App in a Windows laptop would like to download large dataset for offline use in contrast to users with an iPad or Android tablet. Smartphone users like to reduce their dataset further down from tablet users. With the existing configuration design, data synchronization behavior cannot be changed based on app-device combination.
The device targeted configuration is the second level filter, which is introduced to support data synchronization based on the device the client app is running on. With this option, admins can define device specific mobile configuration and dataset definition.
This design also helps in retaining the existing mobile configurations by setting it as default for all client device types. At any given time, there is always one default configuration available. The system first checks if configuration is defined for a specific device type. If yes, then that device configuration settings are applied first. Else, the system falls back on the default device configuration settings. Administrators cannot configure the same device for more than one configuration. For more information on how to configure device targeted settings, refer to Mobile Configuration section.
