Basic ServiceMax Configuration
Most of ServiceMax functionality is delivered using the basic ServiceMax configuration that comprises group and global profiles and associated configuration settings, as given below:
Global (org-wide) profiles and global configuration settings are used to configure mobile app features at the org level. These apply to all technicians who use any ServiceMax mobile app.
Group profiles are associated with group configuration settings, and technicians' Salesforce profiles are in turn associated with group profiles. These group settings are used to configure mobile app features in different ways for different sets of technicians, based on business requirements.
Some key mobile app features such as advanced price calculation for the job done by technicians based on parts, labor, and expenses consumed, applying Salesforce sharing rules for record download, to mobile devices, and support for long-term projects are enabled using this basic configuration. This configuration also allows changing the default app behavior such as colors in which calendar events are displayed.
For mobile apps, group profiles also drive the configurations that determine which data to download, how they should be displayed, what actions are allowed on the downloaded data, and how to synchronize data.
This allows different sets of technicians, who might belong to different teams / delivering field service related to different regions/products, to have a mobile configuration that is specific to the nature of their work.
