Setting up Migration Tool
You can use the Migration Tool to migrate ServiceMax configurations across organizations, including:
• Org-to-org migration of ServiceMax configurations
• Migration across environments such as Sandbox → UAT → Production
• Migration from a Global organization to an Alibaba organization via Export and Import.
Self-hosted Migration Tool
Customers can host the Migration Tool on their local machines to perform the migration.
Key Limitations
• Operational challenges related to debugging, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance
• Limited support compared to the hosted option
Migrating ServiceMax Configurations Using AWS-Hosted Migration Tools
Use the existing US AWS–hosted Migration Tool to export ServiceMax configurations from the Global organization (live commercial production environment). Then, use the locally hosted Migration Tool to import the configuration files into the Alibaba organization.
Key Considerations
• Requires PTC China legal clearance
• Prevents direct connectivity between Global and China Salesforce organizations
• Avoids cross-border data transfer in China
