Service Contract Data Model
The Service Contract documents the details of entitlement provided to a customer and negotiated pricing terms for the products bought. Usually, the shipped or delivered products are covered for a predefined period through a basic warranty. If customers wish to get coverage for repairs beyond the standard warranty period, they usually purchase extended Service Contracts. Service Contract Plans are templates that you can use to create Service Contracts.
Service Contract Price Line Item (CPLI) is interchangeably referred to as negotiated pricing terms as well. Service Contract, Contract Line Item, Account, Product, and Entitlement are native Salesforce objects. Many Service Contract Lines are created to define the covered locations and assets. Many Contract Price Line items are created to define the pricing terms. CPLI can be defined for Contract, Contract Line Item, Entitled Service, Product & Product Family. Price in different currencies is stored in the Contract Price Line Item.
The Service Contract Plan is linked with Maintenance Plan Templates. The Service Contract Authoring process creates Maintenance Plans based on Maintenance Plan templates associated with respective Service Contract Plans. It also creates Authoring Logs to track the real-time status of the Service Contract creation process.
