ServiceMax Core Integration with PTC Orbit
Integrate ServiceMax Core with PTC Orbit to synchronize asset data, work orders, and maintenance records between both platforms.
Integrating ServiceMax Core with PTC Orbit allows asset management to centralize and manage asset data by enabling work order tracking and maintenance scheduling. This integration ensures that asset-related data, such as service history, and maintenance records, is synchronized between both platforms, providing a unified view of asset performance and service status. With ServiceMax Core, field service teams can efficiently manage work orders generated in PTC Orbit, ensuring timely service execution, reducing downtime, and improving asset reliability. By bridging asset monitoring and field service operations, this integration optimizes workflow efficiency, enhances predictive maintenance capabilities, and improves overall asset lifecycle management.
Business Use Cases
Automated Work Order Creation:
Convert asset alerts, IoT notifications, or operator requests from PTC Orbit into work orders in ServiceMax Core for seamless service execution.
Real-Time Asset Service History Sync:
Maintain an up-to-date record of asset service history by synchronizing completed work orders and maintenance activities between ServiceMax Core and PTC Orbit.
Field Technician Dispatch and Updates:
Assign field technicians from ServiceMax Core to work orders generated in PTC Orbit, ensuring timely service resolution.
Predictive Maintenance Execution:
Use IoT-based predictive alerts from PTC Orbit to trigger proactive maintenance work orders in ServiceMax Core, preventing unplanned downtime.
Status Synchronization for Work Orders:
Keep work order statuses updated between both platforms, ensuring that maintenance teams and asset managers have real-time visibility into service progress.
Enhanced Asset Lifecycle Tracking:
Improve asset lifecycle management by linking service records with asset data, enabling better decision-making for replacements, upgrades, or repairs.
By integrating ServiceMax Core with PTC Orbit, organizations can streamline asset maintenance processes, improve field service efficiency, and enhance overall asset performance visibility.
End-to-End Process Flow
The following steps represent the high-level steps involved in the integration between PTC Orbit and ServiceMax Core.
1. Log in to the PTC Orbit tenant to download the out-of-the-box pipelines for Matillion configuration. Open Max Designer > Data Connectors > Matillion Data Connector, in the Attachments tab, download the attached ZIP file.
2. Log in to your Matillion Super Admin account to configure users and pipelines.
1. Invite users with appropriate permission to work on the project.
2. Create a project with the Data Platform value as Snowflake.
3. Configure Matillion project with the Snowflake details available in the Description field in the PTC Orbit tenant.
The Matillion project is now connected to the PTC Orbit tenant through the configured Snowflake database.
4. Add users to the project.
5. Go to the Matillion project branch and import the SFDC data object pipelines.
*
By default, the Account, Asset, and Product pipelines are imported out-of-the-box.
6. Update the Salesforce credentials for each pipeline and validate.
3. In the Matillion project branch, run initial sync and incremental sync for the imported objects to import and transform objects and their fields from Salesforce to Snowflake.
4. In Max Admin, run the system job to sync records from Snowflake to PTC Orbit for the Pre-Db sync objects..For staging review objects, we need to review the records in PTC Orbit review screen, and then click Sync to Production.
*
Incremental sync works the same way as the initial sync except that the sync happens with the LastModifiedDate variable of the record data. The incremental sync filters records based on their LastModifiedDate value.
