Configuration of List Views
Create and configure list views to display asset data based on specific criteria, improving visibility and data management.
Overview
In PTC Orbit, as an administrator, you can create and configure list views to display object details based on specific criteria, improving visibility and data management. List views allow users to view, filter, sort, and group asset data according to operational needs, such as asset type, location, maintenance status, or criticality. You can define custom list views to focus on relevant asset information, enabling quick access to key data without navigating through large datasets. For example, you can create a list view targeted for the Maintenance Team showing assets requiring upcoming service, while another list view targeted for the Asset Manager displaying high-value assets by location. By customizing list views, organizations enhance data accessibility, streamline asset monitoring, and optimize decision-making based on real-time asset insights.

You cannot delete an out-of-the-box (OOTB) list view. However, you can clone and then customize it for your requirements.

When you work with list views that include a very large number of records, you can filter the data to show a subset of the information. When you save filters and use them to create or modify list views In Max Designer, the new or updated views appear in PTC Orbit. You can define which list views appear as defaults in Max Designer, and the same defaults are reflected in PTC Orbit. Users can also set the default list views in the PTC Orbit application for each object. To save time when you work with list views in Max Designer and Max Admin, you can directly edit field values in table cells without opening the associated object record.
To make data management faster and easier, you can use the Mass Update feature to update field values in large numbers of records of the same type. This can save significant time in cases where, for example, you want to assign shift plans to a filtered list of resources. You can also use Mass Update to add or remove fields from large numbers of views. Additionally, you can export list view data to comma-separated value (.csv) files for further analysis with third-party tools.
