To Create, Modify, and Remove Variable Bends
1. Click PDX Strip, click the arrow next to Variable Bend Location and then click one of the commands listed below:

Remove
The Variable Bend dialog box opens.
2. Click Use Previous to load previously used values.
3. Set Location values:
Select In Zone to place the variable bend as a single feature.
Select Start Before Zone to divide the variable into two separate features, one before the Unbend zone and the other in the Unbend zone. You cannot set resilience with this option.
Select Bend Over Zone to divide the variable into two separate features, one in the Unbend zone and one behind the Unbend zone. You cannot set resilience with this option.
4. Set Geometry Selection:
Select the Bend Surface. The variable bend is applied to this surface. Select the upper surface for a downwards bend, and the lower surface for an upwards bend.
Select the Fixed Surface. This surface is not modified by the variable bend. It must be adjacent to the bend surface.
Select To Station. This is the variable bend end point. The default point is the end of the strip.
5. Select or clear the Resilience check box. In case resilience is enabled, dependency and spring back are considered.
6. Set Alignment when Location is set to In Zone:
Select Beginning of Zone to place the variable bend at the beginning of the Unbend zone, and the edge between the bend surface and the fixed surface.
Select End of Zone to place the variable bend at the end of the Unbend zone, with the edge opposite the one between the bend surface and the fixed surface.
7. Set Dependency when the Resilience check box is selected:
Select Radius Depends on Angle to automatically calculate the radius using a specific angle.
Select Angle Depends on Radius to automatically calculate the angle using a specific radius.
Select No Dependency for independent radius and angle values.
8. Set Spring Back calculation when the Resilience check box is selected:
Select Use Entire Bend Zone to include the entire Unbend zone in the calculation whenever there is a dependency between the radius and the angle. Use this option for overbends.
Select Use End Angle whenever there is a dependency between the radius and the angle. The angle and the end angle values are used for the calculation.
Select Use End Radius whenever there is a dependency between the radius and the angle. The radius and the end angle values are used for the calculation.
9. Set variable bend Dimensions:
Radius—Type a value for the radius
Angle—Variable bend angle
Offset—Edge offset between the bend and the fixed surfaces
End Radius, End Angle—Radius or angle after spring back. Available only when Use End Radius is selected.

You must enter a Y or K bend factor and assign material properties to correctly calculate spring back.
