To Create an Article Reference
Use one of the following options to create article references:
• Click PDX Article > Create an Article Reference > By Inheritance to create an article reference using the inheritance feature.
• Click PDX Article > Create an Article Reference > By Merge to create an article reference using a merge operation.
• Click PDX Article > Create an Article Reference > By Multi Merge to create multiple articles in one step.
• Click PDX Article > Create an Article Reference > By Family Table to create an article reference using a new family table instance.
Although there are three ways to create article references, best practice is to create a reference article using the inheritance feature. This is due to the following requirements:
• Article references that were created using a merge operation must be converted for use in Creo Parametric Sheetmetal mode by clicking Model > Operations > Convert to Sheetmetal.
• Article references created by a family table instance create nested family tables.

For article references created by merge or by reference, the part level parameters of the article will automatically be copied to the article reference.
