Operation action (service) (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
An Operation Action (Service) is a proprietary element that is required to model UPDM in Modeler.
Creation
To create an Operation Action (Service):
• From an Activity (System), Activity (Operational), Activity Structured Node (Operational), Activity (Project), Activity Structured Node (Project), Activity (Service), or Standard Activity (Operational): right-click the element, point to New, point to DoDAF, point to Action Node, and then click Operation Action (Service).
• From an OV-5 Operational Activity Model:
◦ Click the Operation Action (Service) button, and then click in free space or within a containing element on the diagram. From the Select Type dialog, select the Operation (Service) that is invoked by the Operation Action (Service).

◦ Click the Operation Action (Service) button, and then click in free space or within a containing element on the diagram. From the Select Type dialog, select the Operation (Service) that is invoked by the Operation Action (Service).

Input Pins and Output Pins
An Operation Action (Service) can own Input Pin (Service) and Output Pin (Service) elements.
On creation of an Operation Action (Service), Modeler creates an Input Pin (Service) or Output Pin (Service) to represent each Parameter (Service) of the Operation (Service) that is used as the type of the Operation Action (Service).
