For automation interface purposes, the Column Sort Order property is not an attribute of the Index. The Column Sort Order property determines the order in which the Columns are stored, and therefore the order they are returned through the automation interface. You cannot change the Column Sort Order through the automation interface.

This property specifies whether each Column of an Index is sorted in ascending or descending order.

By default, each Column is sorted in ascending order.

This property is set on the Columns tab of an Index's Property Pages.

To change a Column's Column Sort Order of a Column, click the current value...

... and then select ascending or descending from the drop-down list.
