Using the dictionary item topics
The Dictionary Items reference section of this Help includes:
Item types that appear in the Dictionary pane.
Item types that appear on diagrams and have Property Pages.
Each dictionary item reference topic starts with the following information:
The item type's symbol, as it appears in the Modeler panes.
A description of the item type.
Instructions for creating an item of that type.
Notation used on diagrams.
Each dictionary item reference topic then provides information about how that item type is used in the model, including links to related reference topics:
Properties - Lists the non-standard properties of the item type.
Owned By - Lists item types that can own the current item type. If an item type is owned by the model, it can exist independently of other items. If an item type is not owned by the model:
It can exist only as a child of the item types that can own it.
Typically it is created through the context menu of the parent item.
Typically it is deleted when its parent item is deleted.
Typically its name has to be unique in the context of its parent's children.
Owns - Lists item types that are directly owned by the current item type. Owned item types are dependent on the current item type.
Defined in these parts of the model - Lists parts of the model that define and use the item type.
Shown on these diagrams - Lists diagram types on which item type can appear.
Can be linked to these dictionary items - Lists item types that can be linked to the current item type. In each case, the purpose of the link is explained.
