Getting information about an item
Modeler provides various ways of getting information about an item:
Property Pages
The Property Pages allow you to view an item's properties.
Details Report
A details report provides textual information about an item - including item properties, item usage and specific information for the item type. The results of the details report are displayed in the Output pane. See Generating a details report.
Usage Report
A usage report lists items that use an item, which is useful for exploring using items. The items found by the usage report are listed in the Results pane. See Generating a usage report.
A usage report lists the following items and diagrams:
Diagrams on which the item appears.
Items that use the item as a type or data type.
Items that are linked to the item.
Items and diagrams that reference the item through model object references in their rich text.
Consistency Report
A Consistency report provides textual information about any consistency problems an item may have. When performed for an item on a diagram, the consistency checks are performed in the context of the diagram on which the item appears. The results of a consistency report are displayed in the Output pane. See Generating a consistency report.
Associated Diagrams Report
An associated diagram report lists diagrams that are linked as associated diagrams in the Results pane. See Generating an associated diagrams report.
Tag References Report
A tag references report lists items and diagrams that are referenced by the item's Tag Definitions. The referenced items and diagrams are listed in the Results pane. See Generating a tag references report.
TellMe
The TellMe utility provides Modeler automation interface information about an item's attributes and associations. See Overview of the TELLME utility.
