Overview of Integration for PTC Windchill (Integration for PTC Windchill)
PTC Integrity Modeler Integration for PTC Windchill integrates PTC Integrity Modeler with PTC Windchill. This integration allows you to perform the following tasks:
• Create Part structures in Windchill from system and sub-system designs in Modeler.
In the Modeler Help topics, these products are referred to as follows:
• PTC Integrity Modeler: Modeler.
• PTC Windchill PDMLink: Windchill.
• PTC Integrity Modeler Integration for Windchill: Integration for Windchill.
The Help assumes that you have a good working knowledge of Windchill and ThingWorx.
The benefits of using Integration for Windchill
Through Modeler you can design your system using SysML items, properties and relationships, such as SysML Bocks and Block Properties. In Modeler you can visualize the structure of your systems using Block Definition Diagrams and Internal Block Diagrams.
Using Windchill Exporter, which is provided with Modeler, you can create preliminary Part structures in Windchill PDMLink from the system design in Modeler. In turn, these Part structures can be used in Bill of Materials (BOMs) for driving physical and mechanical design using CAD tools such as PTC Creo.
Exporting Modeler systems and sub-systems to Windchill (Windchill Exporter)
After designing your system in Modeler you can use Windchill Exporter to create Part structures to implement that system in Windchill.
Windchill Exporter creates Part structures in Windchill that implement the Blocks and Block Property structures in Modeler. In addition to exporting Blocks and their structure, Windchill Exporter exports variability information from Modeler to Windchill.
