Customizing a UAF profile (uaf)
You can extend the properties and linking capabilities of UAF items through Tag Definitions.
If you want to add new Tag Definitions to a UAF profile stereotype, ensure that you create the Tag Definitions outside of the UAF profile. On updating the UAF profile, Modeler will retain Stereotype links to Tag Definitions that are not in the UAF profile package. If you create new Stereotypes and Tag Definitions within the UAF profile package, the update process will delete those Stereotypes and Tag Definitions.
You can create your own aliases for the diagrams, items and links that appear in the UAF profile.
For more information about creating aliases, see Creating aliases for diagrams, items and links in supported PTC profiles (Utilities profile).
You can create new item and link types that are based on UAF item and link types through lightweight extensions. Through lightweight extensions, new item and link types are created as subtypes of UAF item and links types, and as such they inherit the properties and linking capabilities of the UAF item and link types they extend. In addition, the new item and link types appear in the same selection dialogs as the item and link types they extend.
For more information about lightweight extensions, see Overview of lightweight extensions of PTC profiles.
