Item mapping definitions page (Integration for MATLAB Simulink)
This page of Integration for MATLAB Simulink shows you which Modeler items are going to be exported, or which Simulink objects are going to be imported. In addition, this page allows you to change the default type and data type mappings when appropriate.
If Integration for MATLAB Simulink opens the Invalid Names Warning dialog, see Invalid names warning dialog (Integration for MATLAB Simulink).
When exporting to a Simulink model, you can change the type and data type of the object that is going to be created in the Simulink model (you cannot change the type or data type of an existing object):
To change the type of a Simulink object, right-click the entry, point to Set Simulink Type, and then click the appropriate command.
To change the data type of a Simulink object, right-click the entry, point to Set Simulink Type, and then click the appropriate command.
When importing from a Simulink model, you can change the type and data type of the item that is going to be created in the Modeler model, when it is valid to do so (you cannot change the type or data type of an existing item):
To change the type of a Modeler item, right-click the entry, point to Set Modeler Type, and then click the appropriate command.
To change the data type of a Modeler item, right-click the entry, point to Set Modeler Data Type, and then click the appropriate command.

When exporting a Parametric Diagram:
A Constraint Parameter is exported only if that Constraint Parameter appears on the first Parametric Diagram that is owned by its Constraint Property's type. Tell me more...
A Connector is exported only if it connects an inport and outport in the Simulink mode. Tell me more...
When exporting an Internal Block Diagram:
A Part (Block Property) can be exported as a ModelReference only when the Part's type owns an Internal Block Diagram or Parametric Diagram. If a Part does not own an Internal Block Diagram (IBD) or Parametric Diagram. Integration for MATLAB Simulink sets the Simulink type for that Part to SubSystem, so that the Part is exported.
A Flow Port, Full Port or Proxy Port is exported only if that port appears on the first Internal Block Diagram that is owned by its Part's type. Tell me more...
A Connector is exported only if it has one Flow Port, Full Port or Proxy Port that is exported as an inport and one Flow Port, Full Port or Proxy Port that is exported as an outport or if it has no ports and an Item Flow that specifies the direction, in which case Integration for MATLAB Simulink creates a dummy inport and a dummy outport in the Simulink model. The Item Mappings pane has the following columns:
Modeler Item column — on export, shows the Modeler items that are being exported on import, shows the Modeler items that will be created or updated by the import.
On import, if <none> is displayed, the Modeler item will be created by the import.
The icon symbol indicates whether the item is represented in each model, and whether it has changed in each model since the last synchronization:
The item will be created in the Modeler model (import only).
The item will be created in the Simulink model (export only).
The item is in the Modeler model and the Simulink model, and has not changed in either.
The item is in Modeler model and the Simulink model, and has changed in the Modeler model.
The item is in Modeler model and the Simulink model, and has changed in the Simulink model.
The item is in Modeler model and the Simulink model, and has changed in both.
Studio Type column — on export, shows the type of each Modeler item that is being exported on import, shows the type of each Modeler item that will be created or updated.
On import, if <none> is displayed, you may be able to change the type of the Modeler item that is created - right-click the entry, point to Set Modeler Type, and then click the appropriate command.
Data Type column — on export, shows the data type of each Modeler item that is being exported on import, shows the data type of each Modeler item that will be created or updated.

On import, if the item is being created (<none> displayed in Modeler Item column), you can change the data type of the Modeler item that is created - right-click the entry, point to Set Modeler Data Type, and then click the appropriate command.
Simulink Object column — on import, shows the Simulink objects that are being imported on export, shows the Simulink object that will be created or updated by the export.
On export, if <none> is displayed, the Simulink object will be created by the export.
When the background of an object is red, the name of the Simulink object is invalid for importing to Modeler, and Integration for MATLAB Simulink opens the Invalid Names Warningdialog to help you resolve the problem. For more information about the Invalid Names Warning dialog, see Invalid names warning dialog (Integration for MATLAB Simulink).
Simulink Type column — on import, shows the type of each Simulink object that is being imported on export, shows the type of each Simulink object that will be created or updated.

On export, if the object is being created (<none> displayed in Simulink Object column), you can change the data type of the Simulink object that is created - right-click the entry, point to Set Simulink Data Type, and then click the appropriate command.
After setting the default type and data type mappings, click Next.
