Applying an iconic stereotype's image to a diagram symbol
You can apply a Stereotype's image to a diagram symbol as a background symbol, or as an icon that appears on the symbol.

You can also change a diagram's symbol through the symbol or its dictionary item.
To apply an iconic stereotype's image as a background symbol:
1. Apply the iconic Stereotype to the diagram symbol or its underlying item. See Applying a stereotype to a model item.
2. Right-click the diagram symbol, and then click View Options.
3. Click the Style entry.
4. Click the Stereotype option.
5. From the list, select the iconic Stereotype you want to apply.
6. Click OK.
To apply an iconic stereotype's image as an icon:
1. Apply the iconic Stereotype to the diagram symbol or its underlying item. See Applying a stereotype to a model item.
2. Ensure that the Stereotype is set up to be shown on the diagram:
a. Right-click the diagram background, and then click View Options.
b. Click the Shown Stereotypes entry.
c. Click the Link button.
d. From the Links Editor, select the check box associated with the Stereotype you want to show.
e. From the Links Editor, click OK; and from the View Options dialog, click OK.
3. Right-click the diagram symbol, and then click View Options.
4. Click the Stereotype entry.
5. Select the Show Iconic check box.
6. Click OK

When you select the Show Iconic check box, alternative symbol images applied to the symbol through Stereotypes are ignored.
