When a database requires an upgrade, Model Explorer provides users/administrators with the following indications:
• The database icon changes to indicate uninitialized repositories.
• The database properties pane and the list view display the Needs Upgrading message.
• The Add Principal, Delete Principal, and Change Principal Roles menu options (located under the Principals menu are disabled.
• The Backup menu option is always enabled.
• Database administrators can see an Upgrade menu option when they right-click on a database.
To upgrade a database
You must be a database administrator to upgrade a database
To upgrade, right-click on the database and click the Upgrade option. After the database is successfully upgraded, the database icon is updated to show the new status.
