Activity partition (operational) (UPDM - DoDAF aliases)
An Activity Partition (Operational) is a proprietary element that is required to model UPDM in Modeler.
Creation
To create an Activity Partition (Operational):
From an Activity (Operational), Standard Activity (Operational) or Activity Partition (Operational): right-click the element, point to New, point to DoDAF, point to Activity Group, and then click Activity Partition (Operational). From the Select Type dialog, create or select the element that is represented by the Activity Partition (Operational).
An Activity Partition (Operational) can represent a Known Resource, Operational Context, Performer (Operational), Performer Role, Problem Domain or Security Domain.
From an OV-5 Operational Activity Model:
Click the Activity Partition (Operational) toolbar button, and then click in free space or within an Activity Partition (Operational) on the diagram. From the Select Type dialog, create or select the element that is represented by the Activity Partition (Operational).
An Activity Partition (Operational) can represent a Known Resource, Operational Context, Performer (Operational), Performer Role, Problem Domain or Security Domain.
When the represented element has parts, you can quickly create and add nested Activity Partition (Operational) elements to represent those parts: right-click the Activity Partition (Operational), point to Populate, point to Nodes and then click Operational Partitions (New & Existing).
On the Items tab of an Activity Partition (Operational) element's property pages, you can view and navigate to the element that is represented by the Activity Partition (Operational) through the Linked Item association.
Appearance
When shown on an OV-5 Operational Activity Model, an Activity Partition (Operational) appears as follows:
Through the View Options you can show the Activity Partition (Operational) vertically or horizontally.
Relationships
The following relationships are of importance to an Activity Partition (Operational):
On an OV-5 Operational Activity Model, Activity Partition (Operational) elements can be used to create and delete Activity Performed by Performer relationships between Performer (Operational) or Security Domain elements and Activity (Operational) or Standard Activity (Operational) elements:
When you create the Activity Action (Operational) within an Activity Partition (Operational), Modeler creates an Activity Performed by Performer relationship between the Performer (Operational) or Security Domain that is represented by the Activity Partition (Operational) and the Activity (Operational) or Standard Activity (Operational) that is the type of the Activity Action (Operational).
Dragging an Activity Action (Operational) to an Activity Partition (Operational) creates an Activity Performed by Performer relationship between the system resource that is represented by that Activity Partition (Operational) and the Activity (Operational) or Standard Activity (Operational) that is the type of the Activity Action (Operational).
Dragging an Activity Partition (Operational) from an Activity Partition (Operational) deletes the Activity Performed by Performer relationship that exists between the system resource that is represented by the Activity Partition (Operational) and the Activity (Operational) or Standard Activity (Operational) that is the type of the Activity Action (Operational).
Note that when a Performer Role is linked to an Activity Partition (Operational), the Activity Performed by Performer relationship is applied to the Performer (Operational) that is the type of the Performer Role.
