OSLC Link and Surrogate Behavior
Canonical links and versioning of linked remote items
For Windchill PDMLink, OSLC Links and Surrogates link to either “live” or versioned parts. When creating OSLC Links and Surrogates to Windchill PDMLink data, links can point to a specific version or point to the canonical (also known as live version).
Canonical links always point to the latest part version, even if new versions are created in the future.
Version-specific links point to a specific part version.
In the following image, the highlighted part is the canonical version with all part versions displayed. When creating OSLC Links and Surrogates, use the correct part to ensure correct link behavior for your scenario.
For PTC RV&S, OSLC Links and Surrogates link to either “live”, versioned or branched requirements and requirement documents. When creating OSLC Links and Surrogates to PTC RV&S data, links can point to a specific version, a specific branch or point to the canonical (also known as live version).
Canonical links always point to the live version, even if new versions are created in the future.
Version or branch specific links point to a specific versioned or branched item.
OSLC Links and Surrogates link to the latest version of items in DOORS. If a linked item in DOORS is versioned, existing OSLC Links and Surrogates in Modeler models link to the new (latest) item version.
OSLC Links and Surrogates link to the latest version of items in DOORS Next Generation. If a linked item in DOORS Next Generation is versioned, existing OSLC Links and Surrogates in Modeler models will link to the new (latest) item version.
In the case of Codebeamer, you can view the latest versions of requirements.
For PTC Modeler, OSLC Links and Surrogates link to items in a specific model version or the current model version. When creating OSLC Links and Surrogates to PTC Modeler data, the links can point to specific model versions (e.g. v0, ) or point to the canonical (also known as current) model version.
Canonical links point to the latest model version, even if new model versions are created in the future. In the OSLC browser, thecurrentmodel version node is used to create canonical links.
Model version links point to a specific model version, even if new model versions are created.
