Troubleshooting (Integration for PTC Windchill)
Windchill import fails because an item has already been imported (Integration for PTC Windchill)
After generating the Windchill import file from Windchill Exporter, you can import that Windchill import file to Windchill.
If the Windchill import file contains one or more items that have already been imported to Windchill PDMLink, the import operation will fail when the first item that has already been imported is encountered.
You can resolve this problem in the following ways:
• Use Windchill Exporter to generate another Windchill import file, ensuring that items that have already been imported to Windchill are not selected for export.
• Edit the Windchill import file (JAR file) to remove the XML file for the item that has already been imported to Windchill, and then repeat the import using the modified Windchill import file.
|
You must use the default import for Windchill. Using the Import as New Iteration and Import as New Version imports can result in unwanted results.

Windchill import fails with error "Cannot import the Translatable Object due to conflict in provided Authoring Language value".
This is caused by a conflict with the Windchill SIM (Service Information Manager) product, which is an optional Windchill component
If the SIM component is being used there are some configurations that must be performed for the import to work correctly:
1. As a Windchill Site Administrator, access the Site container, then Utilities page, then Type and Attribute Management.
2. Choose Manage Global Enumerations.
3. Expand PTC Enumerations, Language Sets and Available Languages.
4. On the machine doing the export, set the Windows system locale to match one of the existing Source Languages in Windchill.
|
Note that alternatively you can modify the XML after export and set the<authoringLanguage> element to match on of the existing Source Languages in Windchill.
|
5. Select Source Languages.
6. Choose Actions > Edit.
7. Add the relevant languages to the Available for selection table.
8. Click Done.
