NAV-5 Capable performer matrix (UPDM - NAF aliases)
Creation
To create an NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix:
Right-click the Architectural Description or Service Description that is to own the NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix, point to New, point to Matrix/Table, point to NAF, and then click NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix.
When you open an NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix, Modeler can generate it as HTML for viewing in your Internet browser, or generate it as a spreadsheet for viewing in Microsoft Excel. To specify how matrices and tables are opened for a model: in the Packages pane, right-click the Model, point to Tools > Options > Matrix/Table Generation Format, and then select HyperTextMarkupLanguage_HTML or Excel_XLS.
Each time you open an NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix, Modeler generates the product using the latest data from the model.
Purpose
On an NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix:
View which elements perform other elements and which elements are performed by other elements, that is, elements that are linked through Is Capable Of Performing relationships.
The following elements can be performed by other elements: Function, Operational Activity, Service Function or Standard Operational Activity, elements.
Elements Shown
The NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix shows the following elements:
A row is created for each element that is performed by another element and is found in the analyzed Packages.
In addition, a row is created for each element that performs an element that is found in the analyzed Packages.
Rows can be created for the following elements: Function, Operational Activity, Service Function and Standard Operational Activity elements.
A column is created for each element that performs another element and is found in the analyzed Packages.
In addition, a column is created for each element that is performed by an element that is found in the analyzed Packages.
An X in a cell shows that the row element is performed by the column element, that is, they are linked through an Is Capable Of Performing relationship.
Analyzed Packages
By default, the NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix searches for elements that are the source or destination of an Is Capable Of Performing relationship contained within the Architectural Description or Service Description that owns the NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix.
To search for elements from other Architectural Description and Service Description packages: right-click the NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix, point to Links, and then click Analyzed Packages. From the Links Editor, select the Architectural Description and Service Description packages from which you want to search for elements.
Customizing the Matrix
You can customize the presentation of an NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix, for example, by changing the row and column labels that are used. For more information about customizing a custom table or matrix, see .
Example
In this example, Architectural Description1 owns NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix1 and the following elements: Organization1, Organization2, Function1 and Function2.
Organization1 performs Function1 through an Is Capable Of Performing relationship. To create this relationship: right-click the Organization, point to Links, point to All, and then click Performs.
When generated, NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix1 appears as follows.
From the generated matrix you can see the following:
A row has been created for Function1 because it is performed by another element and is found in the analyzed Packages.
A column has been created for Organization1 because it performs another element and is found in the analyzed Packages.
The X shows that Function1 is performed by Organization1.
The following sections provide information about how an NAV-5 Capable Performer Matrix is used in the model.
