SysML 2.0
PTC Modeler 10.1 delivers innovative systems modeling capabilities in accordance with the new systems modeling standard, SysML 2.0, as defined by the Object Management Group (OMG). SysML 2.0 is the next-generation language for modeling systems and is designed to facilitate a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach to complex product development. PTC Modeler 10.1 and SysML 2.0 provide the capabilities to create and visualize models that represent many different aspects of a system, including requirements, structure, behavior and verification.
SysML 2.0 capabilities will be released incrementally over multiple versions of PTC Modeler, beginning with version 10.0. The main functional areas that are delivered in this release include Action modeling, enhancements to Structural Modeling and usability improvements for model creation and package filtering.
A major aspect of designing complex systems is to define, analyze and optimize the behavior of the system elements. SysML 2.0 provides action modeling features that allow you to model the behavior using actions, successions, control nodes and loops. These features are integrated with the existing structural modeling features, which have also been extended to include modeling of flows and binding connectors. Improving support for the SysML 2.0 graphical notation, PTC Modeler 10.1 allows you to represent membership and composite relationships as lines between symbols.
Model creation has been made more intuitive with optimized toolbars and context menus, which help you find the correct function as easily as possible. The Package Filter has been streamlined to provide a more efficient user experience when filtering package contents.

Digital Engineering Thread
PTC Modeler 10.1 provides a new reporting capability for its digital thread integrations built using the OSLC standard. The report provides information on traceability relationships between model elements and requirements in Codebeamer or PTC RV&S, ensuring you are able to easily visualize relationships between design artefacts.
For more information on the OSLC Links Reporting capability, see OSLC Traceability Reports.
Another improvement provided with PTC Modeler 10.1 is to the OSLC Links Editor which now has a streamlined, guided, user experience and also allows modification of additional components of OSLC Links.
For more information on the OSLC Links Editor tool, see Editing OSLC links with the OSLC Links Editor tool.

SQL Server
To improve enterprise readiness and security, PTC has implemented some database schema changes in PTC Modeler 10.1. There are also improvements to the administration features to provide easier, more efficient management of users, roles, and permissions
Fore more information on the updated database access permissions, see Overview of Modeler access permissions.

ISO 26262
PTC is working with TUVSud to gain ISO 26262 certification for PTC Modeler 10.1, which will further demonstrate suitability for safety-critical design projects. PTC expects this to be confirmed after the release of PTC Modeler 10.1.
