Allocations
An Allocation is a type of Connection that specifies that a target element is responsible for realizing some or all of the intent of the source element. An Allocation can be further refined using nested Allocations to provide a finer-grained decomposition of the containing allocation. Systems engineers use an Allocation to denote a "mapping" across the various structures and hierarchies of a system model.
Creating an Allocation
To create an allocation between two items:
1. On the System Structure Diagram ribbon toolbar, click the Allocation or Allocation Definition button.
2. On the diagram, click the usage or definition item and then click the item with which you want to create the relationship. This creates an allocation between the two usage or definition items.
When you right-click on the Allocation link and select Populate > Links > Connection Links, the Allocation is displayed as an element connected to the Allocation relationship as shown in the image below.
