About Redefinition Warnings
PTC Mathcad Prime detects and highlights redefinitions of functions, variables, units, and constants.
To enable or disable the display of redefinition warnings, on the Calculation tab, click the Redefinition button in the Warnings group. Click the drop-down button to hide or show specific types of warnings.
Built-In Identifiers
Functions
The flagged expression overrides the definition of a function.
Units
The flagged expression overrides the definition of a unit.
Constants
The flagged expression overrides the definition of a constant.
Variables
The flagged expression overrides the definition of a variable.
User-Defined Identifiers
Functions
The flagged expression overrides a function you previously defined in your worksheet.
Scalar variables
The flagged expression overrides a variable you previously defined in your worksheet.
Vectors and Matrices
The flagged expression overrides a vector or matrix you previously defined in your worksheet.
 | • The redefinition warning settings are stored on the computer running PTC Mathcad Prime. For example, if you create a worksheet on one computer with the Redefinition button toggled on, and then open that same worksheet on another computer with the Redefinition button toggled off, the redefinition warnings are not displayed. By default, all warnings are enabled except built-in variable redefinition. • Two identifiers can have the same name and different labels in PTC Mathcad Prime. Such identifiers are considered two different identifiers and no redefinition warning is displayed. For more information, see About Labels. |
