Automatically Importing with the Batch Process Tool
The File > Batch Process… menu is used to automatically import, export, or print all the files, or all the files of a certain type, in a single folder.
You can also run the Batch Process… through a macro.
Importing File
Assume that all of the 3D source files for a project have been saved in IGES format in one folder. The import settings for all the files are to be identical and have been set.
To automatically convert the files to Arbortext IsoDraw format:
1. Select the File > Batch Process… menu.
2. Check the Conversion option.
3. Specify the folder containing the source IGES files. You can choose to process only specific file formats, e.g. IGES files, in the folder.
4. Specify the output folder.
5. Click the Run button to start.
Importing and Editing the Converted File
You can create a macro that can run on each of the files converted during the Batch Process….
Assume that all of the 3D source files for a project have been saved in IGES format in one folder.
After their conversion to 3D mode, you want all of the files to be aligned to the coordinate system using the Center elements tool and then converted to an alternative view using the Window > Projection > Isometric view top command.
Create a macro to perform these steps and include the macro in the Batch Process… dialog.
You can also include projection into 2D illustration in a macro. If all the imported source files are to be projected to 2D with the same settings (3D Projection-Set dialog box), select the prepared macro. You will then automatically obtain the completed 2D illustrations. Combining this approach with recorded editing steps in 3D mode enables you to edit large amounts of data very efficiently.
