About Multiple Instances in the Structure Tree
Multiple instances may be created when data is converted by the Creo View adapters. Instead of defining the same part many times, the part definition is reused where possible.
For example, if a model contains six identical bolts, only one instance of the bolt is converted. The other bolts reference the converted data in multiple instances.
With large Structure Trees, you can opt to hide by collapsing multiple instances of the same node. When you select a node that has multiple instances hidden, all the collapsed instances are selected. The instances are then displayed in the Structure Tree and in the graphics area.
In the Structure Tree, stripes on a part icon represent multiple instances and the following additional information:

—That do not have associated geometry loaded into the view
• 
—That have associated geometry that is loaded into the view
• 
—That have associated geometry that is unloaded
• 
—With thumbnail loaded into the view
• 
—With thumbnail unloaded
• 
—That do not have associated geometry, but with a thumbnail
• 
—That do not have associated geometry but with a thumbnail that is not loaded into the view
You can also select individual instances in the 3D view. This shows the collapsed node in the tree as selected.
When there are multiple instances that are collapsed, the icon in the Structure Tree is striped.
Use the Collapse Instanced Parts functionality to hide multiple children of an assembly.
