Creo View Adapter for PDF Prerequisites
The Creo View Adapter for PDF has two components; the adapter that manages the publishing process and an Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) instance that performs the conversion to PDF and optionally also performs the Adobe Reader Enablement of the resulting PDF.
The Adapter for PDF can be configured as a Local Worker on the Windchill machine, or as a Remote Worker on another machine.
Only a single instance of the Adapter for PDF can be configured on any one machine.
The AEM server application must be installed on a machine that’s separate from both the Creo View Adapter for PDF and Windchill host machines.
Prerequisites for Installing the Adapter for PDF
The Creo View Adapter for PDF requires an installation of a supported version of Microsoft Office Professional that has been correctly activated for the Windows user accounts that will run the adapter.
To avoid server controlled publishing problems related to running Microsoft Office applications from a service, you must configure the GS Worker Daemon service to login as a user in the local Administrators group. See Configuring the GS Worker Daemon Service to start the Office Worker for further information.
Before installing the Creo View Adapter for PDF, you must have installed an AEM server. The required files and system requirements for AEM follow.
Prerequisites for Installing AEM
Required Files
Installation file— See the details of AEM requirements in the Adobe AEM Installation Guide for Creo View Adapter for PDF. Download it from PTC Software Download or Reference Documents.
Reader Extensions License PDF file—Required only for customers who have purchased the PDF Review Client option. This PDF file contains the password for the PFX file referred to later in this guide. Download it from the previous software update site.
Microsoft Windows Requirements
A Windows server operating system with at least 3072 MB of physical RAM.
For Microsoft Windows requirements, see the Adobe AEM Installation Guide for Creo View Adapter for PDF.
System Requirements
Make sure that you have a server not used by Windchill on which to install AEM. The server must meet the following system requirements:
Activated Microsoft Office Professional (32-bit only) including Asian font support if necessary. To activate Microsoft Word, open it at least once and complete the Microsoft Software Activation procedure.
*
Before you start the AEM installation, verify that all users that you will register on the Admin user credentials for native PDF conversions page have completed this Microsoft Software Activation procedure. See step 1 in the section Completing the AEM Installation in the Adobe AEM Installation Guide for Creo View Adapter for PDF Guide.
Activated and licensed copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC— and no other version — including Asian font support if necessary. To install the program, as an administrator run \Adobe_Acrobat_DC\setup.exe from the AEM installation media. Open Acrobat at least once to accept the Adobe License Agreement.
*
If a previous version of Adobe Acrobat is installed, remove it before installing this version.
Do not allow automatic updating of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC until after the installation and configuration of AEM is complete.
Install the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC only from the AEM installation media.
