Configuring the GS Worker Daemon Service to Start the Office Worker
After installing the Creo View Adapter for PDF from the Creo View Adapters media and selecting the option to install the Windows GS Worker Daemon service, it is initially configured to start as the Local System account. To publish Microsoft Office documents using a remote OFFICE Worker, it is recommended to reconfigure the Windows GS Worker Daemon service to login as a Windows user account that is in the local Administrators group instead.
To do this, perform the steps under Default Configuration of the GS Worker Daemon Service.
Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents may not be published in worker mode when the Use Office for PDF option is set to Enable Office Publishing. Until this Microsoft Office limitation is resolved, as a workaround to enable the publishing of these documents, start the GS Worker Daemon manually.
To do this, perform the steps under Enabling Publishing of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint Documents Using Microsoft Office below.
Default Configuration of the GS Worker Daemon Service
1. Log in as a local Administrator to the Worker Machine where the OFFICE worker is to be configured.
2. To launch the Windows Services utility, type Services in the Windows search field on the Start menu, and then select Services.
3. Locate and double-click the GS Worker Daemon. The GS Worker Daemon Properties (Local Computer) dialog opens.
4. Click Stop to stop the running service.
5. Under Log On, select This Account, and then enter the credentials of a Windows user account in the local Administrators group and click Apply.
6. Under General, click Start to restart the service and click OK.

5. In Windows Explorer, double-click on <Creo_View_Adapters>\i486_nt\obj\WorkerDaemon.exe, or create a Windows shortcut containing a single argument after the command which is the port to listen on. For example, to execute on port 602, the argument will look like this:
Target: <Creo_View_Adapters>\i486_nt\obj\WorkerDaemon.exe 602
