Importing and Updating sBOM XML Files
The elements in the XML file represent parts and assemblies in the sBOM and their hierarchical structure. They can include attributes that link them to parts in the imported eBOM. Missing references to eBOM items can occur in either of the following instances:
Updating an imported PVZ file (or any other supported 3D format).
• Indication—sBOM tree nodes are marked with red crosses.
• Cause
◦ sBOM instances that are not referenced to a geometry, resulting from removing a geometry of the PVZ file in Creo View.
◦ Editing the source file of an external supported format imported.
• Solution—Structure Edit mode opens so that you can resolve the conflict.
Importing a PVZ file using a sBOM XML (companion file).
• Indication—A message appears.
• Cause
◦ Missing Geometry of the PVZ file in Creo View.
◦ Using an erroneous XML companion.
• Solution—Structure Edit mode opens so that you can resolve the conflict.
From Structure Edit mode, export the current sBOM and updated eBOM as XML files to create a structure update file outside of Creo Illustrate. This structure update file can then be imported to update the sBOM to match the updated CAD data.
Confirm that Show companion xml file update options is selected in the General-Loading options.
To Export a Structure Update File
1. Click Tools > Edit Structure. The Structure Edit mode Home tab opens.
2. To export structure update files, click Export structure update files > Export structure update files. The Select structure update files dialog box opens.
3. Select a folder to save to, and then click Save. The files are exported.
To Import a Structure Update File
1. Click Tools > Edit Structure. The Structure Edit mode Home tab opens.
2. To import structure update files, click Import structure update file > Import structure update file. The Select structure update files dialog box opens.
3. Select a file, and then click Open. The file is imported.

The Export structure update files and Import structure update file options are also available in the Manage Links dialog box when Update after confirmation only is enabled.
