About Linking to the Windchill Server
Use the direct connection to the Windchill server to import CAD files to Creo Illustrate. file or open existing c3di files already stored on the server. When opening existing Creo Illustrate files on the server you have the option to check out the file or open as read only. Saving changes to a file that has been checked out will automatically iterate the file in Windchill.
You can choose to check out a file or open the file as read only.

• Changes made to a read only file cannot be saved but you can use the Save As option to create a new file.
