Automated Design Process for CID to WID
There is an automated CID (Circuit Interconnect Diagram) to WID (Wiring Interconnect Diagram) design process.
Release: Creo Schematics 4.0
Benefits and Description
The CID to WID design process is automated for new designs with a differentiation between components and connectors. Moving a component automatically moves the connector. The default parameter, circuit_id, is applied to fibers and ports and is automatically propagated when taking the actions listed below:
When ports are connected or disconnected
When importing design sheets
During the update of labels
During the verification of circuit_id
The rules listed below apply to the automatic propagation of circuit_id:
Automatic propagation overrides manual entries.
No loading of data tables that contain the circuit_id parameter.
CID fiber is manually set by the user.
WID fiber inherits circuit_id parameter based on the selected circuit..
CID component port inherits circuit_id parameter from the CID fiber.
WID connector and terminal port, inherits circuit_id parameter from the mated component or the connected fiber.
WID splice port inherits circuit_id from the connected fiber.
WID in-line connector port inherits the circuit_id parameter from the connected fiber.
For Legacy designs the CID to WID process starts an automatic conversion as described below:
circuit_id Parameter
If not defined, appended to the global parameters
If defined, checks that its value type is string. If not a string, then the conversion stops.
mates_with parameter
If not defined, appended to the global parameters.
If defined, checks that its value type is string. If not a string, then the conversion stops.
COMPONENT!CONNECTOR Type—If not defined, adds it to the design object types.
COMPONENT!TERMINAL Type—If not defined, adds it to the design object types.
Propagates the circuit_id parameter through the entire design.
Identifies and marks mated items—Pairs of connectors or terminals and components which are connected on a wiring sheet, or the component must have another shape on the circuit sheet.
