To Delete a Layer
1. In an open design, click View > Layer Control. The Layer Control dialog box opens.
2. Select the layer to delete and click Delete. The Delete Layer dialog box opens.
3. From the Delete Layer dialog box list, choose a new layer assignment for the item and click OK.
4. Click Apply to apply the changes and continue configuring options, or click OK.
* 
You cannot delete:
• A default layer
• A layer reference by a dataset
