To Add or Modify a Grid
Grid commands are available on the Graphics toolbar and on the View tab.
1. Click Tools > Grid Properties. The Grids: Current Sheet dialog box opens.
2. Click Add to add a new grid or Modify to change a grid. The Add Grid or Modify Grid dialog box opens.
3. Enter or select the values for:
Name—Name for the grid (up to 6 alphanumeric characters). The first character must be a letter.
Origin X—X-coordinate of the grid origin.
Origin Y—Y-coordinate of the grid origin.
Spacing—Spacing between grid lines.
Pen—Type a number for a pen style. The Pen number sets the color, thickness, and line style of the grid.

By default, the grid origin lies at the same position as the sheet origin. When you choose the position of the grid origin, the sheet origin changes also. The new position then becomes (0,0).
4. Click the Activate check box to activate the grid on the current sheet.
5. Select the type of grid from the Grid type list.
6. Click the Display grid on screen check box to display the grid on the current sheet.
7. To display a different grid, select it in the list and cluck Switch.
8. Click OK.
