Instance tool shortcuts provide immediate access to frequently used Catalog objects, such as shapes, artifacts, and folders. When you click an instance tool shortcut button, the Catalog Selector dialog box opens at the designated artifact, or a shape appears attached to the pointer.

After an instance tool shortcut has been set, other Catalog objects of the same type can be instanced only via the Catalog Explorer.
